When the DEERWHERE AWAKENING novel was published, I did not anticipate the development of the story any further. I was wrong: the characters had their own plans! The first book was followed by ADRION’S PASSAGE and the anthology of EVER AEQUUM. All published by Blue Forge Press, emerging characters had no intention of resting in the pages of a paperback book. By writing short stories for the UNNERVING series of unsettling and provocative anthologies, my imagined characters created their own lives. I have been reviewed as evoking complex character development in a few pages, mining the emotional terrain of people, and exposing different perspectives. As author, I create the tension and pacing of the stories, but the characters may perceive the circumstances differently. They truly create themselves as stories unfold.
FRAGMENTS OF TIME became a collection of genres and personal troupes designed to show characters acting and re-acting to their time in life: a young photographer trapped without light, a teenage boy in Alaska, a world decimated by silicon chips, and teachers in an afterlife. All of these are joined by different people the reader may recognize. Past times, present times, and possible future times showcase the actors. (A lost uniale from the CODEX has a stage of nes own.)
Where FRAGMENTS will lead, where the characters are heading—I wonder?
